Drainage
& Re-landscaping Projects
As
part of an ongoing investment programme, substantial drainage and
re-landscaping works have been undertaken on many holes including 8,11,
and 18. The greenstaff have been working very hard throughout the summer
in preparation for our winter visitors. All the smart golfers from
Scandinavia, and other parts of northern Europe travel to Estepona Golf
for an extended winter break, where they’re unable to play in their own
country until springtime.
Often
to their utter horror, we have the occasional drop of rain ourselves in
the winter months! So this summer has been spent on comprehensive
drainage and re-landscaping works to counter heavy rainfall as and when it
does happen. This, along with ryegrass overseeding of all our tees
and fairways means that we should be in better condition than ever for our
clients this winter!
We’ve
also been busy with our buggy paths, repairing and re-laying areas which
have moved or been damaged over the last few years.
Last
but not least, golfers visiting us for the first time since last winter
need to remember that our new entrance is located about 150 metres before
our old one. Work is currently underway building the new bridge to
cross the river, and once that is finished over the next week or so, you
will be able to decide whether to use the new road, or the newly
re-surfaced old road you have been used to!
All
for you!

Alex
Lister
Alex
Lister joined our team at Estepona Golf in September, working in
the restaurant. Since then, the place has not been quite the same,
with his constant stream of terrible jokes, which have
simultaneously endeared some people to him, but made others want
to throw sharp things at him.
Alex tends turns up to work within an hour of the time that he was
meant to be there! He enjoys his time at Estepona Golf as it
enables him to continue writing his first novel in his free time
and practice his free-lance photography. He also enjoys playing
the piano whenever he can find one.
Alex is originally from Canterbury. He studied music and tourism
at Oxford Brookes University, after which he worked in London for
a while, until he had enough of the horrible commute to work and
the general dreariness of working in London.
He then took the wise decision of moving to the sunshine of the
south of Spain and has never looked back.
Settling into life at Estepona Golf has not been difficult for
Alex and he has quickly become part of our extended family.
