From everybody here at Estepona Golf we would like to wish all our
friends
a
Happy New Year

Looking back over the last 12 months there has
not been a time without something going on! With much to look forward to
in the coming year, here is just a little reminder of some of our
biggest events.
Our
Members
Estepona Golf are very proud of our
members and with a record increase in new memberships this year we are
pleased to welcome our new golfers. Every year we welcome back our
Scandinavian friends who love to play in the sun. This year we have had
record numbers returning, and under the leadership of marshal Bjorn have
played in a number of tournaments against other golf courses as well as
amongst themselves. We wish the Estepona Golf team lots of luck in their
next match against La Duquesa.
Our Collaborators
Throughout the year our tour operators
have sent us increasing numbers of visiting golfers all of whom have
thoroughly enjoyed their Estepona Golf experience.
Estepona Golf has a close relationship with Med Golf supporting two
large competitions this year and sponsoring the top prize to the overall
winner. As with previous years sponsorship 2005´s winner
Man Ho Leung was presented with a fantastic new set of Ping Irons
fitted to his personnel specification.
Our Competitions
Estepona Golf takes pride in providing
well-organised events and competitions for any group large or small.
2005 has been busier than ever. The introduction of the monthly Old Boys
Stableford competitions last June by Head Marshall Lyndley Price
has been extremely popular and filled the need for small club
tournaments.
This year has also seen an increase in the charitable competitions
sponsored by Estepona Golf, with the three largest benefactors being
Ninos Necessitados, Dreamflight and BFBS Wireless for the Blind. All
three were a fantastic success and we would like to thank all involved
for all their hard work. If you have a charity you would like us to
support we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact reception
on 952937605
2005´s calendar has been filled with a variety of fun events culminating
in the Christmas Texas Scramble which took place on December 17th.
Our Club Captain Andy Hunter sums up the event,
“Another very successful Texas Scramble took place recently at Estepona
Golf this time with a Christmas theme. All 64 players took to the course
together as a shotgun fired by marshal Dave Stroud signalled the
start. Players and their guests then enjoyed a superb three-course lunch
together in the cosy clubhouse followed by my now predictable faulty
microphone routine.”

The Estepona Golf Team
 |
From the
bright and cheery pro shop staff to our hard working green
keepers, it is undisputed that Estepona Golf has one of the
best staff teams around. Led by Francisco Barragan
Nieblas the green keeping team have succeeded again in
keeping the Course in tiptop condition and have successfully
managed the recent changes to the 2nd and 3rd holes. Our
marshals have also had a busy year over the last 12 months.
Headed up by Lyndley Price the team are constantly
striving to keep play running smoothly and keep the course
in excellent working order. We are very proud of the job
they do and are in no doubt that they will keep up the good
work in the New Year. |

Peter Cannon and his team in
the Terrace restaurant have been kept very busy this year. From
Weddings, social events and BBQs to his sell out Sunday lunch there
has been a lot going on. Peter Cannon has always provided a
fantastic spread for all our competitions and charity events and it
is with great anticipation that everyone looks forward to his latest
dish.
Estepona Golf 2006
We have lots planned for next
year including the imminent opening of our new driving range. Many of
you will have followed the progress of its construction over the last
few months and it is now nearing completion. The new range will have 15
bays with Bermuda turf section tees along with artificial surfaces for
poor weather. We are also are proud to introduce our new PGA pro
Andrew Butler, who will be manning the range from January and is
able to provide excellent tuition on all areas of your game. As always
Estepona Golf will be striving to achieve great things and there are
already a number of charity/social events on our calendar, so watch this
space for more information.
Final Word from

“2005 has been a fantastic year
and it please me greatly to see so many familiar faces
continually returning. We have invested a lot of time and money
this year to continue to meet our high standards and both the
course and the clubhouse having undergone renovation with
incredible results. Our events calendar has been jammed packed
with a great amount being raised for some well deserving
charities. So for all your help and support thanks a million.” |
